Bio

Hossein Karimi is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Mississippi State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from UC Davis in 2017 under the mentorship of Professor Fernanda Ferreira, with part of his dissertation research conducted in the Swaab Lab.

In the Swaablab, Dr. Karimi investigated the neurocognitive mechanisms of referential processing using event-related potentials (ERPs). His work demonstrated that memory retrieval plays an independent role in resolving reference during language comprehension—highlighting how discourse-level interpretation relies on dynamic interactions between memory and language systems.
