Bio
Liv Hoversten is Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from UC Davis, where she worked under the supervision of Professors Matt Traxler and Tamara Swaab. Her graduate research focused on bilingual language processing, using behavioral, electrophysiological (EEG/ERP), and eye-tracking methods to examine how bilinguals manage linguistic competition and control language selection during comprehension. One of her key findings was that selection of the contextually appropriate language can occur earlier than previously assumed suggesting that bilinguals can flexibly and proactively guide language processing when cues are strong.
